We visited Linhope Spout in Northumberland National Park with all our friends for Luna and Willows Dads birthday Hike. Its a relatively short hike but it provides impressive scenery, the walk is 5KM with little challenging terrain (our little pups managed it with ease).
To start, we parked on the grass verges just before the farm (see parking details at the bottom) and headed up the road towards the farmhouse. You shortly reach a junction where you should go straight on and ignore the left turn. You should keep your dog on the lead here as it is private land. From here on, you simply follow the stone/grassy paths and make your way through open land where we had the dogs off lead to run around. There was no livestock around so it was a good opportunity to let them explore.
After around 40 minutes of following the tracks/signs you will probably hear the crashing of the waterfall before you see it. Make your way down to the fall and admire the the impressive rock formation. The plunge pool below the waterfall is very deep so if your dogs love the water i would be slightly careful, there was people jumping in from the rocks above when we were there! Just beyond the the waterfall there is a good sized section of open grass where we sat for a picnic, please take all rubbish away with you.
After reaching the waterfall, you simply retrace your steps back to the car park. This was an ideal walk for the younger pups who cant do long distance yet. Although the walk was short, you will not be left disappointed.
Parking
Parking is free along the grass verges. There is probably space for around 30 cars. When you put the postcode into Apple/Google maps, it will navigate to a farm, ignore the first farm and follow the road up until the second one, you will most likely see other cars already parked there.
